What is “the Fear of the Lord”?
The Bible defines the fear of the Lord: Proverbs 8:13 – The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Why is it important to understand the fear of the Lord?
The Bible tells us why here: Proverbs 1:7 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
How do I understand the fear of the Lord?
An insight can be found here: Isaiah 29:13 – Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.
The fear of the Lord is not a precept taught by anyone person. The fear of the Lord is experienced as you interact with God – and learn His ways.
So as you read through all of the following scriptures, be sure to pray over them diligently, asking God to reveal to you “the fear of the Lord”.
